Mnemonist Orchestra – Mnemonist Orchestra

The band formed in 1979 in Fort Collins, Colorado as Mnemonist Orchestra (later Mnemonists) lead by Mark Debyshir and William Sharp and started recording albums on their own self-produced label, Dys. Around 1981 – 1982 they split into a visual arts group retaining the Mnemonists name and a musical group called Biota. This is there first lp in a thick hand glued cover limited to around 100 copies, and contains an 8 page insert with various art prints, not inclueded in the zip file, as it was not present in my copie. Released on vinyl by DYS (DYS 01) in 1979. Later re-released with “Some Attributes of a Living System” as a double vinyl by DYS (DYS 01/02) in 1984, under the name “Mnemonists”.

Biota – Awry

Biota was founded in 1979 in Fort Collins, Colorado, as the Mnemonist Orchestra. Over the years, the Mnemonist Orchestra developed into Biota (the musical contingent) and Mnemonists (the visual contingent). Both Biota and Mnemonists work as one on productions of musical and visual components. The group has released nine LPs, one EP, one Tape, and four CDs on both their own Dys label and Recommended Records UK. Strange and weird detached alternative pop songs, recommended. Awry was released on vinyl as a 10″ with a 12 page little booklet on Bad Alchemy (Baal 333) in 1988.
