E.g Oblique Graph – Extended Play

Extended Play

As requested Extended Play by E.g Oblique Graph, a 3 track ep cassette by Bryn Jones, Jones first released music in 1982 as E.g. Oblique Graph on his own imprint, Kinematograph and independent co-op label Recloose, run by Simon Crab. E.g. Oblique Graph came from the Do It Yourself (DIY) ethos of the time and was musically comprised of electronic / experimental drone with occasional synth-melodic hooks and use of radio broadcast samples. The other E.g Oblique Graph releases can be found on Mutant Sounds and the 7″ here. Extended Play was released on Kinematograph Tapes (KT001) in 1982.

Tracks:

  1. Fall Into Glass

E.g Oblique Graph – Triptych

E.g. Oblique Graph (pre-Muslimgauze) music was largely synthesizer melodies processed through filters and delay, owing much to the New Wave aesthetic. Jones over-dubbed his tracks with news broadcasts of a political bent culled from radio and television. Previous E.g. Oblique titles were in themselves often politically-coined: “Murders Linked to Gaullist Clique,” “Human Rights,” and “Castro Regime.” Though perhaps above average for its time, the music in retrospect is unspectacular, yet formed a vital part of Jones’s progress towards proficiency. Triptych was released on vinyl by Recloose Organisation (LOOSE 002) in 1982.

Tracks:

  1. Black Cloth Behind De Gaulle’s Wax Head
  2. Triptych
  3. Study Of The Red Pope (Innocent X)
  4. Castro Regime
