Mannequin Neurose from Japan was founded in the early 80′s. The original lineup consisted of guitarist Kimijima, bassist Hidaka, drummer Kinta, and vocalist Eiji. They released a 3 song flexi on the legendary R.B.F. Records label in 1983. Eiji departed shortly after this release and Kimijima did double-duty on vocals thereafter. As a 3-piece band, they self-released a 4 song 7” in 1985. While retaining some of the punk rock energy, Kimijima’s vocal style here is a lot more manic and wild. The bass also sounds much dirtier and sleazier on this record. At some point afterwards, the band made a couple of compilation appearances, changed their line-up, signed onto the legendary Cityrocker Records label, released an 7” and a flexi 7”, and adopted more of a new wave style, not necessarily in that order. Excellent punk / post punk. Mannequin Neurose was released on vinyl as a 7″ on Mannequin Records (Man-1) in 1985.
