Mnemonists – Nailed / Tic

Mnemonists is a collective of avantgarde musicians from Colorado, lead by Mark Debyshir and Bill Sharp. Their music is a crazy mixture of modern classical, experimental sounds, noise, industrial, avantgarde and free jazz. Their releases were published by their own self-produced label Dys between 1981 and 1986. In 1987 the group changed its name into Biota. Nice somewhat ambient compositions. Nailed / Tic was released on vinyl as a 7″ by Ré Records (Re X84) in 1984. Originally released in the 1984 Recommended Xmas magazine. Also later included in the “16 Dance Party Smash Hits!” box set of 16, 7″ records put out in 1985 as a Re and Recommended 7th Anniversary Commemorative Issue.

Mnemonist Orchestra – Mnemonist Orchestra

The band formed in 1979 in Fort Collins, Colorado as Mnemonist Orchestra (later Mnemonists) lead by Mark Debyshir and William Sharp and started recording albums on their own self-produced label, Dys. Around 1981 – 1982 they split into a visual arts group retaining the Mnemonists name and a musical group called Biota. This is there first lp in a thick hand glued cover limited to around 100 copies, and contains an 8 page insert with various art prints, not inclueded in the zip file, as it was not present in my copie. Released on vinyl by DYS (DYS 01) in 1979. Later re-released with “Some Attributes of a Living System” as a double vinyl by DYS (DYS 01/02) in 1984, under the name “Mnemonists”.
