Re Records Quarterly Vol. 1 No. 1

Very nice compilation album of electronic / avant-garde rock / experimental and spoken words artists. Steve Moore: Composer from Scotland. Steve Moore studied psychology but dropped out of school to make a career of an electro-acoustic / electronic composer. Lars Hollmer: Swedish composer, accordionist, and keyboardist Lars Hollmer was a much beloved artist who escaped the notice of many during his lifetime but who nevertheless touched listeners across the world from Europe to Asia to North America. Lindsay Cooper: Lindsay Cooper (born 3 March 1951, London) studied classical bassoon at the Royal College of Music and entered the rock and improvised music scene early ’70s. She toured and recorded with Henry Cow and its offspring Art Bears. Chris Cutler: He started messing about with banjo, guitar and trumpet at school, settling for drums and playing shadows and other instrumental covers in his first band in 1963. Subsequently he played in R’n'B and Soul Bands, winding up in 1967 playing in London’s psychedelic clubs. 5UU’S: While in high school, Dave Kerman formed a garage band with guitarist Greg Conway and bassist Jon Beck. They began as a King Crimson cover band but soon switched to experimenting with noise music. Joseph Racaille: is a fabulous Ukulele player, a member of the Primitive future (with the cartoonist Robert Crumb), and a founder of the Ukulele Club de Paris. Most will have encountered Racaille as one half of ZNR, post-modern duo with Hector Zazou. Adrian Mitchell: was an English poet, novelist and playwright. A former journalist, he became a noted figure on the British anti-authoritarian Left. For almost half a century he was the foremost poet of the country’s anti-Bomb movement. Kalahari Surfers: Formed in 1982 in South Africa, the Kalahari Surfers was essentially a string of studio projects realised by Warrick Sony at Shifty Studios during the 80′s. These involved various personnel from that environment whose names were altered or simply reduced to first names to safeguard against security dirty tricks persecution. Mikolaš Chadima: founder of MCH BAND – non-conformist musician, composer, lyricist and publicist, one of the “fathers” of the Czech alternative scene. He became widely known in the second half of the ‘70s with his performances at Pražské jazzové dny (Prague Jazz Days) as a member of the bands Elektrobus and The Rock & Jokes Extempore Band of J. J. Neduha. Re Records Quarterly Vol. 1 No. 1 was released on vinyl by Rē Records (Rē 0101) in 1985. Comes with 42 page magazine & screen-printed cover (included in the zip file).
